Residency for non-United States citizens is determined based on criteria established by federal immigration laws. Non-citizens are divided into two categories: immigrant aliens and non-immigrant aliens. The residency rules for immigrant aliens is the same as those rules for United States citizens. Non-immigrant aliens are divided further based upon their visa status. Any non-immigrant alien who is in the United States on a temporary visa (including: B,C,D,F,H,K,L,M,O,R,N,TD, NATO classifications, or those with Employment Authorization Cards) is considered an out-of-state student for purposes of tuition and fees. A non-immigrant alien with visa type A,E,G,H1B,I, and J may be eligible to be considered in-state, but must confirm their information and status with the Office of the Registrar.
