A faculty member of the Kean-Ocean campus since 2008, Dr. Wetta has published two books including Louisiana Scalawags (Louisiana State University Press, 2012), and The Long Reconstruction (Routledge Press, 2013). He has received Academic Honors from Leverhulme British Commonwealth, United States Post-Doctoral Fellow, Keele University, United Kingdom. He is a member of the Editorial board for the Journal of Military History.

Courses taught: Classes on the American Civil War, First World War, Second World War, and the American Experience in Vietnam.

Advice for Students Preparing for Your Class: “Students should approach the class with an expectation of encountering something new – that they be open to new perspectives – and new ways of understanding their world and how it came about. He encourages students come to understand that history is not simply a series of stories that we tell; it is important for students to also understand how those stories were created.”
