What are your average test scores and GPA?
The Average SAT score is 1020 (critical reading and math only).  The average Act score is 21.  The average GPA is 3.0

When is the best time to submit my application?
We have a rolling admissions policy.  However, the best time to apply is from mid-November through mid-January.  Keep in mind some programs have specific deadline dates.

What should my essay be about?
An essay is recommended, by not required.  Although we suggest writing about your educational and career goals, we are trying to get to know you and so we welcome essay topics that are of interest to you.  You can share noteworthy accomplishments in your life or discuss something or someone who has helped you become the person you are today.

How many letters of recommendation do I need?
Two (2) letters of recommendation are recommended, but not required.  They can be written by your Guidance Counselor, teachers or employer.

When can I visit your campus?
Our university open houses are held in the fall and spring semesters.  You can also sit in on an actual class during our Kean Student for a Day events, attend our information session or even schedule your own personal campus tour.

Is an interview required for general admission?
No. However, some of our special admissions programs do require an interview for admission.

What are my chances of getting into Kean?
We look at the whole you.  Your application is evaluated based on your classes, academic progress, achievements and goals, as well as your extracurricular activities and interests.  Accepted students are those who demonstrate the highest likelihood of academic success at Kean. 

How can I get to room with my friend?
Our community living is designed for you to have a chance to meet new people and explore new friendships. You can indicate your preference(s) for suite/roommate on your housing application contract. Learn more about Resident life here.
