Center for Interdisciplinary Studies

Women's and Gender Studies

Women's and Gender Studies is for anyone at Kean University who wishes to broaden the scope of their studies by investigating gender—as it affects the lives of all people—and women's issues worldwide from feminist perspectives. This includes an exploration of how gender intersects with race, ethnicity, class, sexualities, nationality, and culture. Students can take fascinating courses from a range of social science and humanities disciplines.

We host guest lectures and film showings, and we encourage student-led initiatives and participation for all on campus.

Students can concentrate in Women's and Gender Studies by taking an 18 credit interdisciplinary minor in conjunction with any major academic degree program. Graduates with a Women's and Gender Studies background are well prepared for graduate school or the professional world because they possess critical thinking and analytical skills, and a gendered-oriented perspective to social problems.

More information on the minor. For event information or access to our film library click here.
