Articulation Agreements 

Kean works with a host of community colleges to match coursework and help students make a smooth transition to Kean University. Our articulation agreements have several benefits to students, most notably the acceptance of the entire Associate's Degree and the seamless transfer of credits. Please note that articulation agreements are not necessary to transfer credits to Kean University.

Bergen Community College

 

College of Saint Elizabeth

  • Kean University, Master's degree in Holocaust and Genocide Studies
    Kean University will permit students who successfully complete the 15 credit Graduate Certificate in Holocaust and Genocide Education at the College of Saint Elizabeth and meet all relevant Kean admission requirements to transfer nine (9) academic credits upon entry into the Kean University Master's Program in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Credits will be assigned per the Course Equivalency document provided below. Students would have to meet all applicable admission requirements of Kean University and the Master's Program in Holocaust and Genocide Studies to enroll.

Joint Admissions Agreements

Kean University also partners with two-year colleges to develop joint admissions programs, which allows students to begin their coursework at a community college and be provisionally accepted at the same time by Kean University. These programs allow students to stay on track without wasting any time, credits, or money. In addition, provisionally accepted students have access to Kean University support and resources as they complete their Associate’s Degree. Upon completion of their Associate’s Degree, students will be accepted with full Junior status into Kean University.

  • Students will receive Kean communications, including invitations to special programs and events

Essex County College

  • Kean University, B.S. Global Business
    Kean University will allow students who successfully complete the appropriate associate degree at Essex County College to transfer credits upon their admission to undergraduate programs offered at the Global Business School. The number of credits transferred will depend upon the equivalency of courses pursuant to the document provide directly below. The number of credits transferred and awarded by Kean University shall not exceed 50% of the baccalaureate requirements. Students enrolling into Kean University's Global Business School must meet all applicable admission requirements.

  • Kean University, Robert Busch School of Design & Michael Graves School of Architecture
    Students who successfully complete an Associate of Arts (AA) or an Associate of Science degree at Essex County College will be admitted to Kean University with their general education requirements fulfilled pursuant to the Course Equivalencies. Up to 35 credits may be transferred. Admission to the BFA in the Robert Busch School of Design, or the BA in preparation at the Michael Graves School of Architecture shall depend on Kean's assessment of each student's portfolio. Additional transfer credits may be awarded upon portfolio review. Students enrolling into Kean University will be required to meet all applicable admission requirements.

Union County College

On October 18, 2017, Kean University and Union County College have extended their long-standing partnership through the signing of an expanded Joint Admissions Agreement. 

 

  • Kean University, B.S. Global Business
    Kean University will allow students who successfully complete the appropriate associate degree at Union County College to transfer credits upon their admission to undergraduate programs offered at the Global Business School. The number of credits transferred will depend upon the equivalency of courses pursuant to the document provided directly below. The number of credits transferred and awarded by Kean University shall not exceed 50% of the baccalaureate requirements. Students enrolling into Kean University's Global Business School must meet all applicable admission requirements.

Union County Vocational Technical School (UCVTS)

  • Kean University, Robert Busch School of Design 
    Qualified students at UCVTS may pursue a program that permits advanced standing credits to be applied toward a BFA in Graphic Design, Industrial Design or Interior Design in Kean University's Robert Busch School of Design. Upon being accepted to Kean, each UCVTS student will be sent an application to declare a major in the applicable RBSD program (Graphic Design-both options, Industrial Design or Interior Design) and for advanced standing credit. Accepted students will be contacted by Kean University to submit a portfolio for evaluation. Eligible courses for advanced standing credit in Kean's Graphic Design, Industrial Design and Interior Design programs are outlined in the Course Equivalency documents provided below. UCVTS students may apply for a maximum of up to 30 advanced standing credits in the major and no more than 36 total advanced standing credits.
