Dr. Marks is a clinical health psychologist and assistant professor in the department of Advanced Studies in Psychology at Kean University in Union, NJ. He has completed graduate and postgraduate training in mindfulness- and acceptance-based psychotherapies, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and compassion-focused interventions. His research and clinical work have focused on mindfulness-based behavioral interventions for individuals in high-stress medical professions, individuals with advanced illness and illness-related pain, and professionals and athletes experiencing performance-related distress. He is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, and he is certified by the National Registry as a Health Service Psychologist. In addition, Dr. Marks is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology.
