About

Dr. Block-Lerner previously taught at La Salle University and Skidmore College before joining Kean’s faculty in 2010.  Her current work focuses on developing, implementing, and evaluating the value of brief mindfulness and acceptance-based stress management/wellness-fostering workshops for undergraduate students, as well as graduate students who are healthcare professionals in training.

She has also collaborated with colleagues in the Department of Communication Disorders and Deafness and Occupational Therapy to develop psychosocial resources for families of children with special needs. She has published, solely and with colleagues and students, numerous journal articles and book chapters. Her research has been supported by a Kean Quality First Initiative grant and a Kean Foundation Faculty Award, among others.  Dr. Block-Lerner is a former chair and current member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies’ Academic Training Committee and annual convention program committee, and is also actively involved in the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science.

Degree Information: Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, University at Albany

Courses Taught: Psychological Measurement and Statistical Analysis, Research Design, Dissertation Seminar, and Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment II: Adults.

Primary Area of Expertise: Clinical psychology, with an emphasis on mindfulness and acceptance-based behavioral interventions.
