Adelante Annual Scholarship
Awarded to students with demonstrated financial need who have participated in the Kean University Adelante program.

Agustin “Gus” Garcia ’80 Annual Leadership Scholarship
Recipients must be in a leadership position with a Kean University student organization or group, or in the off-campus community, and strong financial need. Latin heritage is preferred, and the student must have an affinity with Latin heritage and culture. This award is supported by the Lambda Theta Phi Foundation.

Barbara Baker Johnson M ’09 Endowed Scholarship to Aid International Study
Awarded to full-time undergraduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have been accepted to study abroad through the Kean University Study Abroad Program. Preference will be given to students with financial need.

Be the Change Annual Scholarship
Granted to students who have made a significant contribution to social change through community service. Strong preference is given to “Be the Change” student club members. Financial need is also preferred and a supplementary essay of not more than 250 words highlighting the student’s community service and social change involvement is required.

Bill Dioguardi Annual Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to sophomore, junior, or senior male students. Eligible students must have a 3.0 GPA.

Catherine A. Blewitt Annual Memorial Scholarship 
Awarded to juniors and seniors from any major. Preference given to Newark area residents.

Charlotte W. Newcombe Endowed & Annual Scholarships for Mature Women 
For female undergraduate students aged 25 or older. Recipients must have at least 60 college credits, a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need. 

Claire Goldstein Annual Alumni Association Memorial Scholarship 
This Alumni Association scholarship is granted to students who exhibit academic excellence, leadership, and contributions to extracurricular activities.

Class of 1959 Annual Alumni Association Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates from any major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 1960 Annual & Endowed Scholarships
Awarded to undergraduates from any major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 1961 Annual Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 1962 Annual Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 1981 Annual Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 1983 Annual Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 2008 Annual Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 2009 Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 2010 Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 2011 Annual Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 2012 Annual Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Class of 2013 Annual Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Clement J. and Birgit M. Zotta Annual Scholarship
Open to all undergraduates from any major with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Must be a United States Veteran who has received an Honorable Discharge.

ConnectOne Bank Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming freshman or undergraduate with a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Applicants should reside in the state of New Jersey.

David A. Kirpan Annual Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Awarded to a junior or senior New Jersey resident with a minimum 3.75 GPA, proven financial need, who holds a leadership role in a community service organization that is based in, or associated with Kean University. 

Distinguished Alumni Annual Scholarship
Awarded to full-time juniors or seniors with a minimum 3.7 GPA and a demonstrated financial need. 

Dr. Socarrás Scholarship
Awarded to full-time students with outstanding academic accomplishment and potential and must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and demonstrated financial need. Supported by the Lambda Theta Phi Foundation, this scholarship is open to any major with preference given to Spanish and history majors. 

Dr. John O’Meara Annual Memorial Scholarship 
Awarded to seniors who demonstrate humanitarian qualities in their accomplishments. 

Elman Family Annual Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students
Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is designated for non-traditional age students. Internships may also be possible for recipients majoring in Education, Psychology, and Occupational Therapy. 

EPIC Endowed Scholarship 
Given to freshmen or sophomore candidates who entered Kean through the Entry Program into College (EPIC). Financial need and academic achievement are determinants for consideration.

First Generation Annual Scholarship

Awarded to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA and proven financial need, who are first-generation college students. 

Fred C. Rummel Foundation Annual Scholarship 
For the student who has demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, trustworthiness and character through community-service or high-school activities and has proven financial need. Student must be a graduate of a Union or Essex County High School in New Jersey with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Minimum 3.0 GPA at Kean must be maintained for continuation of scholarship eligibility.

Former New Jersey State Troopers Association Scholarship
Awarded to students who are children or grandchildren of current, retired, or deceased New Jersey State Troopers. Students with 3.0 GPA will receive preference.

Graduate and Part-time Student Council Annual Scholarships
Awarded to full-time matriculated graduate students or part-time matriculated students in either undergraduate or graduate degree programs. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and 9 Kean credits completed at the time of application. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Successful candidates should demonstrate strong character as student leaders through active membership in campus and community involvement.

HACE Annual Academic Scholarship 
Awarded to part-time or full-time sophomore, junior, or seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred. Must show evidence of positive leadership and extracurricular involvement.

Harwood Endowed Scholarship 
Awarded to undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA with proven financial need. Preference given to residents of Jersey City, NJ. 

Housing Authority of Plainfield Annual Scholarship
Recipients must be incoming freshmen or transfer students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Strong preference will be given to HAP residents with at least one year of residency or to other Plainfield residents. Financial need is essential with extracurricular and community involvement preferred. Eligibility will be confirmed through HAP and an additional reference from an HAP official is suggested.

International Student Scholarship 
Presented to full-time International undergraduate students with non-New Jersey residency only. Applicants must have completed two semesters at Kean at the time of the award, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

J. Eduardo Saavedra Endowed & Annual Scholarships
Awarded to program graduates of Project Adelante. Bilingual undergraduates must have a 3.5 minimum GPA to be considered.

Jesus Lago-Turon Scholarship
Granted to the student with the highest achievement in the Spanish-speaking section of ECO 1020 “Principles of Economics I.”

Jim Hynes ‘63 Annual Scholarship
Open to all undergraduates from any major who currently reside in Elizabeth, NJ. Preference will be given to male applicants and/or United States Veterans.

Kean University Adjunct Faculty Federation Scholarship 
Awarded to undergraduates majoring in early childhood education. Financial need preferred.

Kean University Foundation Endowed & Annual Scholarships 
Awarded to the best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of academics and community service. Eligible candidates must have a minimum 3.0 of a possible 4.0, demonstrate financial need and plan to reside on campus.

Kean University Transfer Merit Scholarship 
This two-year scholarship is for incoming transfer students holding an associate’s degree who have a minimum 3.85 GPA.

Kean University Veterans Association Annual Scholarship
Awarded to a United States Veteran who has received an Honorable Discharge. Preference is given to a veteran who served in active duty in Afghanistan or Iraq. 

Lambda Alpha Sigma Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to junior and senior members of the Kean University Lambda Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Students must be enrolled full-time and have completed a minimum of 32 credits at Kean.

M. Ernest Townsend Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a sophomore who exhibits academic excellence.

Manny Cantor Peace Prize
Granted each year to a student, faculty or staff member who contributes to the cause of promoting international peace, mutual understanding, or inter-group harmony.

Martin Rogers Alumni Association Annual Scholarship in Human Rights
Granted to undergraduates from any human rights related program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

New Horizons Annual Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to Kean University students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are LGBT or allies of LGBT individuals or communities. Applicants do not have to be LGBT, and will be considered regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. An essay is required on a LGBT topic. If conducting research related to LGBT individuals or communities, also include a one-page synopsis of the research. Preference will be given to full-time students.

Nu Sigma Phi Annual Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference given to a member of Nu Sigma Phi. 

Nu Theta Chi Annual Alumni Scholarship
Granted to female sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are active members of a Kean University sorority. Preference given to Nu Theta Chi or a local (non-national) sorority member. 

Patricia Ann MacNamara Endowed Scholarship 
Awarded to undergraduate students who are New Jersey residents and have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA. 

Patricia M. Barksdale Annual Scholarship
Awarded to juniors and seniors residing in Newark, Roselle, Elizabeth or Linden. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and proven financial need. 

Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Annual Scholarship – Kean University Chapter
Applicants do not need to be members of this honor society to apply. Awarded to juniors or seniors with a minimum 3.5 GPA and graduate students with a 4.0 and a minimum of 15 graduate credits completed, this scholarship also requires a supplementary essay of no more than 450 words addressing the topic, “How I have used or plan to use my experiences (educational and/or life-learned) towards servicing the community.”

Phi Theta Kappa Annual Scholarship 
Granted to a select number of incoming transfer students who are Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members. Candidates must have a minimum 3.5 GPA with an associate’s degree by May 1 of the current academic year. 

R. Ann Mueller Annual Scholarship
Awarded to freshmen or sophomores from New Jersey, who have a minimum 2.75 GPA and proven financial need.

Retired Faculty Endowed Scholarship
Granted to sophomores, juniors, or seniors with financial need.

Rob Lane Annual Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA and proven financial need. 

Sally Ponto Annual Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a non-traditional undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA and proven financial need.

Sam’s Club Annual Scholarship

Open to any Kean student in good standing residing in the service area of the Sam’s Club located in Linden, New Jersey.

Sigma Beta Tau Endowed & Annual Scholarships
Awarded to current members of Sigma Beta Tau Fraternity who have demonstrated academic merit and leadership qualities. Preference will be given to students with financial need.

Steven J. Weiss Endowed Memorial Scholarship 
For freshmen, sophomores or juniors who demonstrate academic excellence, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, are involved in University community activities and exhibit leadership qualities.

Student Organization of Kean University, Inc. Endowed & Annual Scholarships
Scholarships awarded to full-time undergraduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have completed a minimum of 18 credits at Kean. Preference given to students with financial need. Successful candidates should demonstrate good character and participation in leadership activities that benefit the Kean University community.

Uma Dharapuram Scholarship for Women’s Studies 
For juniors or seniors who are residents of Union County, N.J., and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. In addition to the Kean University Foundation. Students are required to submit an additional essay describing their educational interests in the area of women’s studies.

Virgil T. Nelson, Jr. Annual Scholarship
For male undergraduates of any major with a minimum 2.75 GPA, Preference given to students with financial need.

Wilf Family Foundation Scholarship 
Granted to 12 full-time students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. 

William Chaison Award for Dance Ensamble Members 
Awarded to outstanding members of the Kean Dance Ensamble who further their dance training through participation in recognized and approved summer dance programs.
