Register with Unemployment Tuition Waiver
All students are able to register online via KeanWISE. Priority registration periods are determined by the number of credits earned toward your degree. Students will be able to register and drop courses via KeanWise on their priority dates and through the first week of the semester. After the first week of the semester, students who wish to drop a course will be withdrawn with a mark of “W.” Refunds may be issued according to the schedule on the Academic Calendar.
- Sign the Financial Obligations Agreement by logging into KeanWise, located under the “Student Menu” tab. This must be completed prior to registering.
- Resolve any pending holds. (Holds will restrict your access to registration. To view holds, click the “Student Restrictions” link under the “Academic Profile” menu on KeanWise.)
- Meet with your Academic Advisor. All undergraduate students must meet with an academic advisor and have advisement holds removed prior to registering.
- Search and register for sections of desired courses by searching KeanWise for open sections.
- Pay your tuition and fees. Fulfill all financial obligations on your account. Students must have enough Financial Aid or scholarship awards to cover all balances, pay in full, or enroll in a Payment Plan. Additional information is available in your Student Account Suite located on KeanWise.

Approved Petition Required
If course section states “Approved Petition Required,” a student must contact the academic department offering the course to receive an electronic Petition for the course. In most cases, this will allow the student to register on KeanWise; in some cases, the department will provide the student with written permission to register. This form can be brought to the One Stop Service Center in-person or can be emailed from the student's Kean email address to regme@kean.edu.
Independent Study
Students seeking to register for an Independent Study course must obtain an “Independent Study Contract/Application” from the academic department offering the course After the contract is approved and completed, this form can be brought to the One Stop Service Center in-person or can be emailed from the student's Kean email address to regme@kean.edu.

Register for a Closed Course
If a course section is closed, a student should look at the course section details in KeanWise. If the student still seeks to register for a restricted or closed course, s/he must contact the academic department to inquire about the student restrictions preventing registration.
If a course section is closed due to lack of capacity and if the student is issued an electronic overload to a specific section is granted, the student can register via KeanWise. If the student is issued a paper petition or overload, the form can be brought to the One Stop Service Center in-person or can be emailed from the student's Kean email address to regme@kean.edu.
Register for a Declared Students Only Course
Students registering for a course that is restricted to “Declared Students Only” must be official declared in his or her major in order to be eligible to register for that course. Students who wish to declare their majors should complete a “Change of Major Form.” Completed forms can be brought to the One Stop Service Center in-person or can be emailed from the student's Kean email address to regme@kean.edu. Completed forms are processed in 3-5 business days.
Register for more than 18 Credits during Fall/Spring Semester
Students must complete a “Registration Petition Form,” including obtaining all of the required signatures. Completed forms can be brought to the One Stop Service Center in-person or can be emailed from the student's Kean email address to regme@kean.edu.
Register for more than 6 Credits during Summer Sessions
Students seeking to register for 7-9 credits during Summer Session should visit the One Stop Service Center to obtain permission from the Associate Director or One Stop Manager. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to be eligible.
Students seeking to register for 12 credits during summer session must must complete a “Registration Petition Form,” including obtaining all of the required signatures. Completed forms can be brought to the One Stop Service Center in-person or can be emailed from the student's Kean email address to regme@kean.edu.
Register for Courses with a Time-Conflict

Undergraduate Students Registering For Graduate Level Course(s)
All undergraduate students looking to register for a graduate level course must seek approval from the Nathan Weiss Graduate College Office of Graduate Student Services to obtain written permission prior to registration. Completed forms can be brought to the One Stop Service Center in-person or can be emailed from the student's Kean email address to regme@kean.edu.
Register with Unemployment Tuition Waiver
Please read and follow all requirements for the tuition waiver. If you fail to comply with the requirements, you will be responsible for all charges. Students are only eligible to register for classes on the last day of add/drop on a space available basis. If you are a matriculated student, you will be required to use financial aid to cover program cost. Non-matriculated students will be required to pay from personal resources. All students (matriculated and non-matriculated) seeking to participate in the tuition waiver program must file a free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) prior to seeking eligibility. The student must be making academic progress towards a degree and cannot be in default of a student loan to participate in the program. The UPJTF must be signed and dated by the department of labor, division of workforce of New Jersey no sooner than 30 days prior to the start of the semester/term. Students must submit their tuition waiver within five (5) days of their registration. Students must complete all credits paid under the tuition waivers in order for the waiver to take effect. If any course is dropped, the waiver will not be valid and the student will owe the tuition and fees.
Withdraw from course(s):
In order to withdraw from one or more courses, a student must do one of the following:
(1) submit a signed, dated letter or completed WITHDRAWAL FORM to Office of the Registrar/Kean Ocean Administrative Office.
(2) submit an email to regme@kean.edu or to keanocc@kean.edu from your personal Kean email address. Include your Kean ID and phone numbers.
(3) present a photo ID at the Office of the Registrar/Kean Ocean Administrative Office, Gateway 103.
Completed forms can be brought to the One Stop Service Center or Kean Ocean Administrative Office in-person or can be emailed from the student's Kean email address to regme@kean.edu. The request must be received or postmarked by the published deadlines found on the Academic Calendar. Withdrawal from one or more courses may have financial impact on student accounts. Information about tuition, fees and Financial Aid can be found in the appropriate section of this catalog or on the Office of Student Accounting and Office of Financial Aid websites. The withdrawal or “W” grade is not counted in the cumulative grade point average. Any student who does not officially withdraw on or before the withdrawal date published in the academic calendar will be given a letter grade that reflects his or her achievement in the course.
Register for Online Course
Face to face students may register for Online courses not designated as reserved for Kean Online students only on KeanWise. Five days prior to the start of any term, Kean Online courses with open seats will be made available for face to face students. Face to face students wishing to take a Kean Online course should contact the academic department offering the course to obtain an electronic petition (permission).
