School of Special Education and Literacy
Literacy – to teach one or two developmental reading courses Monday - Friday between 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM at the Union campus. A Master’s degree in Reading or English is required with a strong record/background experience in teaching reading skills or language arts, preferably at the college level. Special Education – to teach Principles and Practices for the Contemporary Educator (methods in teaching students with and without disabilities in the inclusive classroom). Morning and evening class sections are available at the Union campus. Knowledge of edTPA, differentiation and universal instructional design. School of Global Education & Early Learning
Early Childhood – to teach developmentally appropriate teaching and learning integrating science, mathematics, social studies and the arts; Family collaboration; Working with infants & toddlers; Planning and assessment; and Universal design at the Union campus on weekdays and Saturdays. The Early Childhood undergraduate program prepares candidates for P-3 Certification. Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and are expected to have a strong understanding of edTPA.  Willingness to incorporate intentional and reflective teaching into courses is highly preferred.  Familiarity with Blackboard and Chalk and Wire is a plus. Adjuncts will be expected to be responsive colleagues who will support our students towards best practices in teaching young children. School of Nursing
Nursing to teach in the undergraduate RN to BSN Nursing program and in the Master’s in Nursing program at the Union, Raritan Valley and Ocean campuses. Applicants must hold an active New Jersey RN license and have a minimum of two years didactic teaching experience in an academic setting. Applicants for the RN to BSN program must have a minimum of a Master’s in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. Applicants for the Master’s program must have a minimum of a Doctorate in Nursing or its equivalent. English as a Second Language – to teach a variety of ESL courses; Business and Professional Writing; and a new Transition course for international students at the Union campus. Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in TESOL or a related field and have experience teaching academic ESL at the post-secondary level. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard or Canvas. Applicants for the international student transition course should have a background in ESL or International Studies. Bilingual in Mandarin is preferred for this specific course. School of Communication Disorders and Deafness
Communication Disorders and Deafness – to teach Undergraduate (face-to-face and online) and graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders, e.g., Speech and Hearing Science; Scope of Practice; The Nature of Language; Phonetics; Anatomy & Physiology of the Ear and Speech Mechanism; Early Speech & Language Development; and Basic Audiology at the Union campus.   Possibility of on-campus or off-campus clinical supervision. Department of Graduate Social Work
Master of Social Work – to teach Saturday and weekday evening courses (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) in the Master of Social Work program at the Union campus. Social Work courses include Trauma; Substance Abuse; General Practice I and II; Clinical Practice I and II; Integrated Seminar I and II; Research I and II; Psychopathology; School Based Social Work; International Issues in Social Work; Social Welfare Policy; Services I and II; and Human Behavior and the Social Environment I and II. Requirements include an earned Master of Social Work degree from a Council on Social Work Education accredited program; two years of post-Master’s degree professional practice experience; eligibility for or current social work license in the State of New Jersey; and adherence to the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics. In addition, the candidate is expected to have experience working with a diverse student, faculty and staff population to advance social, economic and environmental justice. Department of Advanced Studies in Psychology
Advanced Studies in Psychology – to teach or co-teach Cognition and Emotion in our Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Combined School and Clinical Psychology program at the Union campus. A doctoral degree in cognitive psychology or a doctoral degree in another subdiscipline of psychology with a certificate or specialization in cognitive science is required. New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics (NJCSTM)

Probabilistic Methods (Lecture & Two Labs) – to introduce students to basic probability theories and statistics techniques, including basic probability concepts and calculations, random variables, probability distributions, statistical data & data collection, descriptive statistics, sampling distribution, inferential statistics, confidence intervals, statistical hypothesis testing, etc., with application examples in Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics. The lab portion of the course covers computer lab exercises in R, including the Bernoulli process in binomial distribution; basic operations in R; binomial, Poisson and normal distribution calculations in R; Central Limit Theorem simulation in R; how to load data into R with data frames; and how to perform t-tests in R.  All undergraduate NJCSTM students are required to take both the lecture and lab sections of this course.  The position requires formal education in statistics and probability. Lecture - Mondays & Thursdays 2:00-3:15pm; Lab 1 - Mondays 4:30-7:15pm; Lab 2 - Fridays 3:30-6:15pm.

Mathematical & Computational Methods of Science I (Lab Only) – to teach the first part of a sequence in mathematics and computational methods which introduces calculus, scientific modeling, MATLAB programming, data structures and algorithms.  The course gives an introduction to numerical differentiation and numerical solutions to systems of ordinary differential equations, with emphasis on the physical interpretation of the derivative.   Laboratory activities include data fitting in Excel; root-finding methods such as bisection method and Newton’s method; finite difference methods for numerical differentiation; numerical methods for solving ordinary differential equations including Euler’s method, the midpoint method and 4th order Runge Kutta.  In addition to learning programming methods, students will also learn standard numerical tools such as VenSim and MATLAB’s ODE45. 1 lab section: Wednesdays 11:00am-1:45pm.

Mathematical & Computational Methods of Science III (Lab Only) – to teach the third part of a three semester sequence.  This course emphasizes application systems of linear equations, finite dimensional vector spaces, vectors, matrices, ordinary differential equations, foundations of Vector Calculus and linear transformations including the Fourier Transform.   Applications include population dynamics models, harmonic analysis of audio signals and data reduction using projections onto low dimensional subspaces.  The lab portion of the course emphasizes numerical techniques derived from large linear systems of equations including the principal component analysis and the Fast Fourier Transform.   Spectral filtering of audio signals and data reduction using principle component analysis are addressed. 1 lab section: Tuesdays 4:30-7:15pm.

Applied Human Immunologyto teach a graduate level lecture-based course that focuses on how the human immune system works, what happens when the immune system goes awry and how different components of the immune system can be harnessed for basic and clinical research. This course explores many of the molecular and cellular players involved in immunity and the importance of their interactions.  Students discuss some of the fundamental experiments in immunology and practical applications of immunological research in current biotechnology industry. 1 section: Tuesdays 7:30-10:15pm.

Advanced Molecular & Cellular Techniques – to teach the second course in a two semester sequence of graduate-level laboratory courses presenting experimental design, methods and techniques. The course explores quantitative and qualitative laboratory approaches to the study of cell signaling pathways and using loss of function genetic alteration techniques to measure effects on aspects of cell physiology.  Advanced cell culture techniques including 3D spheroid and organoid culture and stem cell propagation are explored.  There is additional emphasis on multiplex approaches and cell population analyses. Students are required to complete a guided research project as part of the course. 1 section: Fridays 4:30-7:15pm.

Translational Science & Medicine – to teach a graduate level course that introduces second year graduate students to the principles and methodologies of translational research through lectures, scientific readings, case study analyses and class discussions.  Topics include mechanistic biology, linking clinical and basic research through evidence-based research and bioethical considerations in personalized medicine. 1 section: Wednesdays 4:30-7:15pm.

Molecular Pharmacology – to teach graduate level students the theoretical principles of Pharmacology, including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, dosing and formulation, safety and toxicity.  The course delves into the pharmacologic mechanisms of action of biologically active molecules, such as drugs, chemical mediators, hormones and toxins, the effects of these molecules on organ systems and the therapeutic uses of such molecules, routes of drug administration and metabolism, adverse reactions, contraindications, drug-drug interactions and mechanisms of drug addiction. 1 section: Mondays 7:30-10:15pm.

Biostatistics & Computational Analysis – to teach a graduate level course for Biotechnology researchers which addresses the use of standard deviation, standard error, normal distribution, significance tests and intervals, analysis of variance, linear and multiple regression, chi squared analysis, multiple comparison and data fitting procedures. 1 section: Wednesdays 4:30-7:15pm.
