Abner and Norma Benisch Endowed & Annual Scholarships
(see complete listing under College of Business and Public Administration)

College of Education Annual Scholarship
Awarded to a qualified student majoring in a program within the College of Education.

Cookie and Ed Esposito Annual Education Scholarship
Awarded to sophomore, junior and senior education majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA. 

Dan and Margie Charleston Endowed Scholarship in Early Childhood Education                                                                                            Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in early childhood education, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and proven financial need. 

Doree Denburg Stark Alumni Association Annual Scholarship
Awarded to full-time juniors or seniors majoring in early childhood education with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Preference given to those demonstrating financial need. 

Dorsey-Gaines Endowed & Annual Scholarships
Awarded to sophomores, juniors or seniors majoring in education and preparing for a teaching career. Recipients must be New Jersey residents with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Dorothy and George Hennings Endowed & Annual Scholarships in Education 
Supports students in elementary or science education who have completed 18 semester hours, have a minimum GPA of 3.3 and are committed to excellence. 

Dr. Arthur Shapiro Annual Memorial Scholarship
Successful applicants must be seniors or graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA majoring in special education.

Dr. Nickie B. Berson Special Education Endowed Scholarship 
Given to junior or senior undergraduates with a minimum 2.5 GPA, who are enrolled full-time in the Educator of Individuals with Disabilities program. 

Dr. Sharon Brendzel Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Granted to students majoring in education and preparing to teach in the sciences. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and financial need.

E. Alma Flagg Endowed Scholarship 
Two students are awarded each year. Applicants must be english and education majors from Newark, N.J.

Frank J. Esposito Annual Social Science Scholarship
Awarded to junior and senior teaching majors concentrating in middle or high school social studies. Students have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

G. Evelyn Foster Endowed Memorial Scholarship 
For students in the Early Childhood Education Program who have completed 60 credits. Applicants should have work experience in a child-care center, a minimum 3.2 GPA, and proven financial need. 

Giordano Family Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate students with declared majors in speech, language, and hearing sciences. Students should have completed four courses in the major. Preference will be given to students committed to the field of Speech Therapy as demonstrated through volunteerism, outreach, or other activity in the field.

Harold B. and Dorothy A. Synder Foundation Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduates in Special Education majors. Students must have a 3.0 GPA with sophomore, junior, or senior status.

Hazel H. Hardgrove ’79 ’81 Music Education Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a senior music-education major who plans to teach in a New Jersey public school. Student must be a U.S. citizen from Union County, N.J., and maintain full-time enrollment with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference given to residents of Springfield, N.J. planning to teach at the elementary school level.

Hector Gomez Annual Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a sophomore or junior majoring in athletic training with a minimum 3.0 GPA and proven financial need.

Helen Coombe ’23 Annual Memorial Teaching Scholarship 
Awarded to education majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA and preparing for a career in the teaching profession.

Helen Longacre Endowed Scholarship 
Awarded to part-time Elementary Education majors level with proven financial need who plan to teach on the elementary school level.

Helio E. Rosete Memorial Endowed & Annual Scholarships 
For students in the educator of individuals with disabilities program with a minimum 3.0 GPA who express interest in a career working with adults with disabilities. 

Joan Marie Granato Annual Scholarship
Awarded to any Kean University student and New Jersey resident majoring in recreational administration, who has a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference given to full-time students and military veterans. Please be sure to include any pertinent field experience, relevant,information or research in the essay section of the application in order to be considered for this award. 

John Edward Haffly Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a senior studying special education who has demonstrated academic proficiency, community service and shows evidence of future leadership in the field.

Joseph and Rosella Morrissey Annual Scholarship
Awarded to juniors and seniors majoring in education and preparing for a teaching career in grades K-5. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Kean University Adjunct Faculty Federation Endowed Scholarship-PERH
Awarded to undergraduates majoring in physical education, recreation, or health.

Lucy Jajosky Orfan Endowed Scholarship 
Granted to seniors majoring in elementary education with an academic major in Mathematics and seeking K-5 or 5-8 certification. Preference will be given to K-5 students. Must have a 3.3 GPA or higher and financial need. Preference is given to New Jersey residents.

Lynn M.K. Franklin Annual Scholarship

Awarded to New Jersey senior with a minimum 3.5 GPA, who is majoring in elementary education, and has a vast amount of community service. Preference given to a veteran and those with proven financial need. 

 

Maxine and Jack Lane Scholarship
Awarded to a junior, senior or graduate student with a minimum 3.5 GPA and proven financial need. Student must demonstrate career goals in the fields of human health or education.

Nancy Bauer-Boucher Endowed Scholarship in Elementary Education (K-8) and English
Provides financial support to the full-time upcoming junior or senior Elementary Education major with financial need, whose second major is English with a minimum 3.25 GPA out of a possible 4.0.

Pamala A. Brooks Early Childhood Education Scholarship
Awarded to juniors or seniors who are majoring in early childhood education, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and proven financial need. This scholarship could be renewed, provided the recipient continues in early childhood education and upholds a 3.0 GPA.

Patricia Ingram Campbell Annual Memorial Scholarship 
Awarded to education majors who have exhibited academic excellence.

Patrick J. Ippolito Annual Scholarship for Elementary Education
Granted to juniors majoring in elementary education. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.

Ruth Horowitz ’30 H ’06 Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship
Granted to junior or senior-year students majoring in early-childhood education who are New Jersey residents with a minimum 3.5 GPA and are able to demonstrate financial need.

Sadie Richman Annual Gerontology Scholarship 
Awarded to a student in the gerontology collateral program, who intends to pursue a career in aging services. Applicant must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. 

Sandra Castaldo Williams Endowed & Annual Scholarships for Non-Traditional Students
Awarded to non-traditional (age 25 or older) undergraduates with proven financial need. Preference given to students pursuing a career in education.

Sophie and Edward Sheplak Endowed Memorial Scholarship 
Applicants must be undergraduates in education or human services with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are financing their own education, have financial hardship in the family and show a record of volunteering in community-service activities. Preference is given to female candidates.

Stella Sozin Tomich Annual Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior education major.

The Greany Endowed Scholarship
Bequeathed by alumna Frances J. Greany M ’73 ’81, this scholarship is awarded to elementary education majors.

Thelma Kaplan Endowed Memorial Scholarship 
Applicants must be sophomore, junior or senior students pursuing degrees in the helping professions, such as counseling, nursing, education or social work, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and proven financial need.
